Project (Visa): Information Architecture

The practice of organizing, structuring, and labeling content is big and overwhelming task. I have made a career of breaking down complex business systems and processes in a way that makes it easy for users to find and navigate information. UI and process solutions should be focused on creating clear pathways for users and that only happens with solid IA foundation.

Process tools are incredibly powerful and can be leveraged across multiple applications and disciplines.

Just a few of the tools I specialize in:

  • Site Maps: A visual representation of the structure and hierarchy of content within a system.

  • Content Inventory & Taxonomy: A comprehensive list of all existing content, identifying what needs to be updated, removed, or created and where it should live.

  • Wireframes: Low-fidelity designs that show the layout and placement of content and navigation elements.

  • Taxonomy/Labeling Systems: A structured system for naming and categorizing content in a clear, consistent way.

  • Navigation Schemes: Detailed plans for how users will move through the system, including menus and links.

  • User Flows: Diagrams showing the paths users take to complete tasks within the system.

Meta Data

Meta Data

Targeting content based on geography, interests, security level and so much more is only possible with IA.

Content Model

Content Modeling

Content modeling allows for discussion and testing of information as it proceeds through our Information Architecture.

Taxonomy

Content Inventory & Taxonomy

More than just an inventory of content, a good taxonomy answers questions about your content’s purpose, organization and where it should appear.
